Event: The Toltec World and the New Code of NLP - Part 2
Future EventsAfter the popularity of the last event, we asked Damian if he would present Part 2 - and he kindly accepted.
Last time was pretty much standing room only, as the room only holds 24 people, and attendance will be on a first come first served basis - so come early to ensure your place, or book your place by emailing us at viv@vivcraske.com
Following on from Part 1, presented in January 2009, this evening's presentation will explore the nature of Perception and how it is assembled into cognitive awareness. The nature of the 'Assemblage Point' and how it is employed by Stalkers and Dreamers alike. Drawing upon the New Code Description of NLP and the world of the Toltec. The evening will be an experience of 'Stopping The World' and will challenge our conceived map of reality. Experience the nature of a Separate Reality.

What is is The Toltec World and the New Code of NLP?
Those familiar with NLP will be aware of the description referred to as New Code NLP. The variation presented by Damian Sinclair is a natural development of what was originally presented in Turtles All The Way Down. Connecting New Code with its Toltec roots provides a unique and cohesive description and understanding of a model of perception.
Who is Damian Sinclair?
Damian Sinclair is an NLP trainer who graduated from NLPU, Santa Cruz, California. Divers by nature, a series of programs covering NLP, New Code, Toltec Sorcery and QPP form the content presented by Sentience of which he is director. He is author of A Toltec Witness and NLP Pathway To Creativity and occasionally guest presenter to groups around the country.
Why will I find this interesting? How can I use this with NLP / within my work?
Invited in January of 2009 to present to the Brighton NLP Group. The brief was to present something a little exotic. This brief was fulfilled and an invitation was extended to present a natural development, or next stage. The review which describes the January presentation speaks for itself and you are invited to draw your own conclusions as to usefulness in respect of applications.
Why should I come?
Curiosity would be the prime reason for attending and as the January presentation was very popular it appears curiosity is alive and well. Many things are described and talked about which we add to our inventory of information. Directly experiencing difference is rarer. Consider the evening to be a voyage of discovery.

Event: The Toltec World and the New Code of NLP - Damian Sinclair
Review Title: I went out on Thursday night.ReviewRating = 9 out of 10
The session was held in Hove community centre, alongside a large church, visually impressive with both lit up at night.
Inside there was a large group, much bigger turnout than I'd seen at other practice groups, and I was greeted warmly by Sue Pullen, the chairwoman. Sue intoduced the speaker for the evening, Damian Sinclair, and the topic, Damian's version of the New Code and Toltec teachings.
Damian seems unassuming, and is talking as soon as he leaves his seat at the side. He begins with an introduction to classic NLP, the tools to create angels or monsters, how far NLP has come, and how far could it go? Then he briefly mentions dreams and dreaming, and the Shamanistic/Toltec aspect is touched upon for the first time, with the group rapport he has developed very obvious by now.
A statement is written on the flipchart, one Damian tells us he has puzzled over and explored for many years. 'In the presence of extraordinary reality, consciousness takes the place of imagination'. Extrordinary reality exists, you can go there, but what bearing does it have? Alcohol and more exotic substances are mentioned for going there, then substance free methods, which are a small part of what Damian has to teach.
It soon becomes clear Damian is very different from other equally highly skilled presenters. There was no great show or loudness about him, and he was unassuming, but perhaps all the more deadly/effective for this. His great skill in holding an audience and taking them there, wherever 'there' is, also quickly becomes apparent.
Yet, it is however easy to fall in love with the world he presents as his own, while not really believing him. The vision of a lone scholar and mystic with practical knowledge from many fields, teaching what he knows. In my cynicism, it seems merely a romantic notion, yet its still easy to be fascinated by the guy. Eventually though, the idea of 'truth/reality' becomes very fluid, it is, after all, a matter of perception.
The first exercise is Stopping the World, taken straight from Carlos Castaneda's work, and presented in the original version of John Grinder's New Code, the book 'Turtles all the way down'. Grinder has since taken his work in a different direction and now presents New Code Games, while Damian has continued to develop the original 'Turtles' version, and it is some of this that he presents. The exercise is a very powerful and interesting state change first, then with minimal guidance and an outcome, it is revealing where the imagination can go.
Damian refuses to sanitise the words 'Toltec Sorcery' written on the board but, of course, does. In the end though, it seems NLPers achieve outcomes with techniques, sorcerers achieve them with rituals.
Then he speaks of Quantum physics and a field he has created, Quantum Power Programming. The cause of a problem must be in the past, right?
If the past, present and future were to exist simultaneously, what would that mean? Could we respond now to causes in the future? The idea of a social contract is discussed, how we may be socialised into upholding consentual reality. What possibilities exist outside of this, what benefits, and what harm do we do ourselves in finding out?
Damian then asks for a volunteer, and the guy sits opposite him at the front, a strong and obvious rappot quickly develops. The exercise is three points of attention, and the first thing I notice is a very obvious state change in the guy. He is very still, pale and cateleptic, just looking straight into Damian's eyes. It is done content free, but apparently at the end he has gained new perspective and insight on something he previously considered a problem.
The same exercise is then done in pairs, and it proves to be a very interesting and personal experience for my partner and I.
Several people I spoke to at the end had attended out of curiosity, and plenty of that was provided! Many had also found it enjoyable and were impressed with what was presented, and how it was presented, including some very experienced NLPers.
Damain apparently is running some courses on his approaches and ideas, and I'll admit it does look interesting. In the end, a night where I'm glad I went out.
